Can A Convicted Teacher Get ARD?

You bet!! What is ARD, you might ask? Good news for an ex-Liberty High School gym teacher convicted

for ignoring the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl. The abuse was committed by the teacher's husband.

According to the PA Code, Corinne Hertzog was a mandatory reporter, she was required to report the abuse.

Good thing when she is done her six months probation, her record will be expunged, totally clean. According

to the article linked above, Hertzog is hoping to teach again.

Pa. crossing guard gets 230-460 years in prison

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A former school crossing guard in northeastern Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 230 to 460 years in prison for sex crimes against children.

Columbia County prosecutors say 61-year-old Dale Hutchings, of Berwick, molested children hundreds of times between 1998 and 2007. Police say all the victims were under 13 when the attacks began.

Hutchings worked as a crossing guard near Orange Street Elementary School in Berwick, a little over 90 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Police began investigating him in 2007. Court papers say an 11-year-old girl accused him of putting his hand down her pants as she made breakfast at his house. Police were led to other victims who also said they were molested.

Hutchings was sentenced Thursday. A message seeking comment from defense lawyer Hugh Sumner was not immediately returned.

He gets 10 years probabtion for molesting numerous students during school. Interesting-how during the

press conference announcing the arrest of Michael A. Calnon, a math teacher from Upper Dauphin Area School District, the prosecutor states that the teacher's conduct was "extremely inappropriate and highly offensive" and that there are multiple victims.

Now the prosecutor, Sean McCormack, states that Calnon doesn't even have to register as a sex offender because "his offenses don't meet those guidelines"

There's no mention that Calnon also worked with kids as a youth group leader. Did the prosecutor look into the possibility that there may be more victims?

Exit question why was the judge, Dauphin County Judge Todd Hoover so lenient on this predator masquerading as a teacher?

ALARMING: Widespread Abuse In Chicago Public Schools

818 children report being beaten and battered in the Chicago Public School system.

According to this report conducted by CBS 2 News of Chicago

"If someone hits a student, they are going to be fired. It's very, very simple," [Arne] Duncan said.

Before heading to Washington [Duncan is now the U.S. Secretary of Education], he vowed to take action.

"Any founded allegation where an adult is hitting a child, hitting a student - they're going to be gone," Duncan said.

But that's not what happened under Duncan's watch. Of the 568 verified cases, only 24 led to termination. Records show one teacher who quote "battered students for several years" was simply given a "warning" by the Board of Education.

The child's special education teacher reported the allegations and the parents were not notified for four months that a teaching assistant was accused of assaulting the 4 yr. old. Meanwhile, the teaching assistant was not charged and remained in the classroom during the time span.

Former teacher ordered to pay $1.5 million in abuse case

Connecticut-

A judge has ordered former West Hartford teacher Eugene Ronco to pay $1.5 million to a man who alleged Ronco sexually abused him when he was a teenager in the 1970s. Superior Court Judge Joseph Shortall said the man, now 50 and a father of two, suffered emotional problems and deserves the money. The man testified he was abused when he was a student at King Philip Junior High School and having problems at home. He says Ronco gave him alcohol, meals, and pornography and demanded sex every three days. Ronco now lives in Altoona, Pa. He never hired a lawyer and didn’t appear in court, which under the law means he’s deemed to have admitted to the allegations.

Pa. bus driver charged with molesting women with disabilities

GREENSBURG, Pa. - A 74-year-old bus driver is charged with sexually molesting six women passengers with special needs over three years in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Paul Lizza, of Unity Township, faces a preliminary hearing March 3 on charges of indecently assaulting people with a mental disability, indecent contact without consent, and institutional sexual assault.

State police say the incidents continued through November when one woman complained. Lizza has been off the job since police began investigating.

He was a substitute driver for First Student Inc. The victims range in age from 27 to 52.

Police say Lizza would pull off the road and fondle the women, sometimes in the presence of the others.

Lizza tells The Associated Press he is being "railroaded" but that his attorney has told him not to comment.
