Teacher, trainer at West Windsor-Plainsboro high schools arrested

Christopher WelchAn athletic trainer at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North in Plainsboro has been arrested and charged inappropriately touching six female student-athletes.
Christopher Welch, 37, of Newtown, Pa., was charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual contact, a third-degree crime, and two counts of criminal sexual contact, a fourth-degree crime, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said today.
Welch, who is also physical education teacher at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in West Windsor, has been suspended with pay since December, when the school district first contacted Plainsboro police.
A joint investigation by police and the prosecutor's office resulted in Welch's arrest Wednesday, Kaplan said in a joint statement with Plainsboro police Chief Elizabeth Bondurant.
Welch was released on $50,000. He began working at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in 1993. In 1997, he added the job of sports athletic trainer at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North, Kaplan said
