MONTROSE — A former English teacher in the Mountain View School District has pleaded guilty to three charges related to faked teaching credentials while employed by the district from 2004 to 2006.
Corey D. Gesford, 37, of Nicholson, pleaded guilty April 24 in Susquehanna County Court to forgery, making an unsworn false statement and illegal use of a professional title — all misdemeanors.
He faces one-year probation on each count to be served concurrently, and was ordered to pay $1,014.50 in court costs and fines. He also was ordered to pay $5,194.44 in restitution to the Mountain View School District.
Mr. Gesford altered someone else’s teaching certificate to make it appear he was a certified teacher in Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania attorney general’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
