Molester doesn't fight 'predator' label

An expert dubbed Christopher D. Naylor a sexually violent predator.
He did not argue the point.
Naylor, 36, was convicted of rape in 1997 and most recently convicted of molesting two Lawrence Park Township teenage girls from 2005 through 2007.
One of the girls became pregnant.
Naylor, facing sentencing in the recent cases, waived his right to a Megan's Law hearing Wednesday. He agreed that he is a sexually violent predator who, once he gets out of prison, must report his whereabouts to police for the rest of his life.
Erie Judge Ernest J. DiSantis Jr. then sentenced Naylor to serve 12 years and nine months to 27 years in state prison.
"Given your past behavior, I don't know what it is going to take to protect society from you," DiSantis said.
Naylor faced a mandatory minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 29 years.
DiSantis' sentence took into account Naylor's decision to plead guilty and spare the victims a trial and Naylor's prior record for rape. DiSantis said he also considered that one of the teens Naylor molested became pregnant. "I want to say to the victims that none of what occurred here was their fault," DiSantis said. The victims did not attend the hearing.
Naylor said little. "This is my fault," he told DiSantis. "I screwed up."
Naylor, formerly of the 1000 block of Smithson Avenue, Lawrence Park, pleaded guilty in October to one count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and endangering the welfare of children in one case.
He pleaded no contest to one count of indecent assault in the second case.
Lawrence Park police in April arrested Naylor on charges he molested one of the girls between January and November 2006, when she was 15 and 16. The girl became pregnant.
Police also arrested Naylor on charges he molested the second girl between January 2005 and January 2007. The second girl was 13 when the molestation began, authorities said, and 15 years old when it stopped.
Naylor was convicted of rape in 1997 in Ohio. Naylor had once volunteered at Iroquois High School. The school changed its policy on background checks for volunteers after his arrest.
Assistant District Attorney Beth Hirz asked DiSantis to give Naylor a stiff sentence. She said Naylor manipulated the teens he molested, knowing that they were friends with one another. "For him to say 'I screwed up' is a complete understatement, " Hirz said.
