Elmira teacher arrested on public lewdness charges

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- An Elmira elementary school teacher has been arrested for public lewdness.
Police say Chris Troncone, 40, of Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania was committing the act at the Campbell Rest Area. Police say an attendant there witnessed the act.
Troncone is a first grade teacher at Diven Elementary. The superintendent would not comment on the matter, but the district did say Troncone has been suspended pending a police investigation and letters to parents are going home with students today.
Troncone is scheduled to appear in the Town of Campbell Court next week

ELMIRA--The Elmira teacher who was caught masturbating at a public rest stop last week has resigned.
40-year old Chris Troncone of Lawrenceville submitted his resignation on Friday. Wednesday night the School Board accepted the resignation.
Police charged Troncone with committing a lewd act in a men's room at the Campbell rest area off Interstate 86.
He taught first grade at Diven Elementary School in Elmira and was suspended from the classroom after his arrest.
Troncone appears in court February 25
