A Liberty High School teacher and former girls assistant basketball coach has been charged with choking his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her with a knife at his home earlier this month.
Peter DiGirolamo, 48, of 433 Barn Swallow Road, Upper Macungie Township, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and harassment. He was arraigned Oct. 10 before District Judge Charles H. Crawford and is free on $50,000 bail.
A man, who answered the phone at DiGirolamo's home on Thursday afternoon, declined to comment.
Bethlehem Area School District Associate Superintendent Robert Gross on Thursday said DiGirolamo is an employee with the district and declined to comment further on the case or DiGirolamo's status with the district
